Vacu Stack
Chimney Caps |
|
The Vacu-Stack Chimney Cap solves the two wind related
chimney problems -- wind induced downdraft and dynamic wind loading. The
streamline flow of the wind around the Vacu-Stack prevents wind from
blowing into the chimney -- even when the wind is deflected downward.
The Vacu-Stack creates a venturi that causes flue gases to flow up and
out of the chimney. |
|
There are no moving parts to bind or
malfunction.
Vacu-Stacks are tested by an independent testing laboratory. In the
absence of wind, Vacu-Stacks provide a more than adequate passage for
exhausting flue gases. The open spaces in a properly sized vacu-stack
are several times larger than the flue opening. The unique design of the
Vacu-Stack gives excellent protection from downdrafts caused by wind,
where other devices often fail. |
High
quality austenitic stainless steel, T-304, guarantees superior
durability for long service life. All fasteners and hardware are also
made of stainless steel for complete corrosion protection. Ribbed
construction provides extra strength and reinforcement. Exposed edges
are hemmed for ease of installation. The Vacu-Stack chimney cap is made
in the USA.

An adapter
is required for square or rectangular masonry chimneys. A patented fastening
device secures the adapter to the chimney flue. Vacu-Stack caps fit inside
the adapter collar. Silicone caulking must be applied to seal seams and
joints.

Easy, Quick, Secure Installation: |
Fits Round, Square,
or Rectangular Chimneys Problem Free Installation The Vacu-Stack Chimney Cap
is easy to install. It fits directly into round flues. Square and
rectangular masonry chimneys require a stainless steel adapter. The adapters
are adjustable and fasten securely to the inside of the flue. Chimneys
should be cleaned and inspected before installation and must conform with
applicable fire, safety and building codes. Detailed instructions are
furnished. The Vacu-Stack is easily removed for annual chimney cleaning and
inspection. |
Round Metal Chimney Installation:
|
Vacu-Stack
caps easily fit inside round factory built chimneys. Optional stainless
steel Spark Arrestors are required in some states. Check your building
code.. Apply a thin film of
silicone caulking (not furnished, but available from your local home center)
to seal the joint between the Vacu-stack and the top of the chimney. |

AIR COOLED CHIMNEYS REQUIRE TDW
MODELS....
DO NOT bend the
three spacers located on the underside of the TDW models. The spacers maintain
ventilation space between the bottom of the Vacu-Stack and the top of the
chimney. This is essential for uninterrupted air flow through the cooling
channels in air cooled chimneys.

It Works!!!!
Dear Reiner,
We received our Vacu-Stack from you last week, and I
wanted to let you know how pleased we are with it. We have lived in our
home for almost 20 years, and gave up using our fireplace years ago. The
reason was that the smoke would back up into the house any time there
was the slightest wind outside.
Evidently this was caused by the peak of the house being higher than the
chimney, and so the wind would come down off the peak and into the flue
(see photo). |

It was very simple to install the vacu-stack on my
chimney; it took me less than 5 minutes, as it fit perfectly inside the
flue as you said.
We immediately started a blazing fire to test it out, and
there was absolutely no smoke or even the slightest smell of smoke in
the house. Also, in the past, whenever we had a fire left overnight, in
the morning the whole house would smell like smoke. With the vacu-stack,
we do not have that problem anymore.
The real test, though, was the other day, when we had our
first Nor'Easter, with wind gusts of up to 50 MPH for several days. I
was skeptical that the vacu-stack could prevent smoke backing up with
winds that high, but our house stayed warm and toasty and smoke-free! |
|
|
|
I am very grateful for the time you spent helping me
figure out our problem, and coming up with the solution. We love using
our fireplace, and plan on keeping it going 24 hours a day to save on
our heating bill this year.
So thanks again for everything; there's nothing as warming and beautiful
as a roaring 'smoke-free' fire!!
Sincerely,
Perry & Frauke R
